			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So I have been trying to eat healthy and becoming a mostly vegetarian.  I have liked meat all my life, but recently, I have been enjoying vegetables more than meat.  So I thought I would try to become a semi-vegetarian for five days (almost a week!).  Join me in my journey in becominga  mostly vegetarian and living a semi-Vegetarian lifestyle.  </p>
<p><strong>Day I</strong></p>
<p>Breakfast<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br />
Breakfast was pretty easy because my usual breakfast consists of either Peanut butter toast with coffe or Uncle Tobys Wholegrain museli bars with coffee.  Today I had Peanut Butter on Turkish with a cup of coffee.  Coffee is made with skim milk but I am not going to fuss about it. </p>
<p>Lunch<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
For lunch, I brought my own lunch from home rather than eating out.  I find it easier to stick to my diet plan this way.  I had an Indian curry with chickepeas and potatos with white rice.  It was yummy and filling.  See who told you you need meat to feel full.  I didn&#8217;t even realise that I didn&#8217;t have any meat for lunch.  </p>
<p>Snack<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
I had some jelly babies for an afternoon snack.  This was just to keep my sugar level up and to avoid feeling dizzy before dinner time.  </p>
<p>Dinner<br />
&#8212;&#8212;<br />
For dinner, I made one of the recipes from <a href="http://bit.ly/cQIJJ2">this ebook</a> (Quick Easy Chinese Vegetarian Cooking).  The book contains many chinese vegetarian recipes (275 page cookbook).  I chose Kung Po Chicken, and the recipe tells u exactly how to have the chicken taste without using an actual chicken.  It is the Chinese secret of preparing vegetarian meat (not real meat, but just as good).  I have to say I was pretty impressed with the taste and look of my Kung Po Vegetarian Chicken. If you are thinking of becoming a vegetarian for a long time, I highly recommend <a href="http://bit.ly/cQIJJ2">this ebook</a>.  It is a must have in a Vegetarian kitchen. </p>
<p><strong>Day II</strong></p>
<p>Breakfast<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br />
Today, I had Uncle Tobys&#8217; Wholegrain museli bars with Yoghurt top.  I know Yoghurt is produced by bacterial fermentation of milk.  But like I said earlier, I wasn&#8217;t going to make a fuss about milk or diary products just yet.  My intention was to become a semi-Vegetarian, not a full vegan.  This website has a good explanation of <a href="https://www.msu.edu/user/daenzerr/rd491/types.htm">different types of vegetarians</a> and what they eat and what they don&#8217;t.  According to that website, I am more of a Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarian than a Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarian. </p>
<p>Lunch<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
Lunch was, once again, brought from home.  It was a sandwich, with lettuce, onion, tomato, cheese with brown bread.  Preparing this type of sandwich is pretty easy, it&#8217;s just the same way as how you&#8217;d make chicken or bacon or turkey sandwich but without the meat. </p>
<p>Snack<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
For afternoon snack, I had 2 whole grain rice cakes with a thin spread of jam.   This is definitely one the vegetarians snacks that is not only easy to make but also delicious.  </p>
<p>Dinner<br />
&#8212;&#8212;<br />
Dinner was Spiced lentil and vegetable soup served with bread.  It was hearty and delicious.  Recipe is from <a href="http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/19922/spiced+lentil+and+vegetable+soup">taste website</a>.   I made a lot of it so I could take some to work tomorrow.  </p>
<p><strong>Day III</strong></p>
<p>Breakfast<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br />
Breakfast was the usuals.  Coffee and peanut butter on turkish.  Being a creature of habit, I am finding this diet so easy to follow.  </p>
<p>Lunch<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
I had the leftover from yesterday. Spiced lentil and vegetable soup.  I should have brought more soup because I was still a  bit hungry even after I had finished my lunch.   </p>
<p>Snack<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
Too busy at work so no snack.  </p>
<p>Dinner<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
We had takaway pizzas for dinner tonight.  I ordered a vegetarian pizza with basil, eggplant, capsicum and mushrooms.  It was so yummy I even didn&#8217;t realise that there was no meat in it.  </p>
<p><strong>Day IV</strong></p>
<p>Beakfast<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br />
Breakfast was a cup of coffee and Uncle Tobys&#8217; Yoghurt Bar.  </p>
<p>Lunch<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
Team Lunch today at work and we went to a Thai restaurant.  I ordered a vegetarian Pad Thai.  It tastes almost the same as chicken Pad Thai but instead of chicken, there was tofu and beancurds.  I used to hate tofu when I was young, but I am starting to enjoy it.  I still cannot imagine eating just tofu by itself, but when it&#8217;s mixed with noodles and other vegetables, it isn&#8217;t too bad.  </p>
<p>Snack<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
Lunch was a cup of tea with some nuts and dried fruits.  I bought a Fruit &#038; Nut Snack Mix from cafe this morning and it is pretty good.  Nuts give you protein that you need because almost all types of nuts are rich in protein.  </p>
<p>Dinner<br />
&#8212;&#8212;<br />
Dinner was Red Chili Bok Choy with white rice using the recipe from the <a href="http://bit.ly/cQIJJ2">Chinese Vegetarian recipes ebook</a>.  I followed the recipe exactly and made 3 servings so I could take the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.  It was so quick and easy to make.  When you are on any kind of diet, it is important to pack your own lunch so you don&#8217;t have to run around at lunch time trying to find what you can have.  </p>
<p><strong>Day V</strong></p>
<p>Breakfast<br />
&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<br />
I had Banana muffin and coffee.  I got the Banana muffin from cafe, so I don&#8217;t exactly know what is in there, but I am sure there was no meat.  Eggs are ok by me.  </p>
<p>Lunch<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
Lunch was the leftover Red Chili Bok Choy.  It tasted even better today or maybe I was too hungry.  I had meeting from 11:00am to 1:00pm so I was starving comes lunch time.  And I sort of wishes how good it would be to have some meat with Bok Choy.  It is funny how our brains work.  When I am not starving, I do not miss meat at all and I am happy just to have veges but when I am starving, I wish I could have some meat in my meal.  </p>
<p>Snack<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
No snack today because I had late lunch.  </p>
<p>Dinner<br />
&#8212;&#8211;<br />
The last day of my Vegetarian diet.  But it doesn&#8217;t mean I am going to have steak for dinner tonight.  I decided to use another recipe from  <a href="http://bit.ly/cQIJJ2">Chinese Vegetarian recipes ebook</a> because I was very impressed with how the meals turned out for the previous 2 dishes that I cooked using the recipes from the book.  I made Braised Lion Head or also known as Braised Giant Meatball.  And obiviously, the meatballs are not made using the real meat, but it is made with vegetarian meat (tofu, flour, etc).  </p>
<p>I have a weigh-in the day after my diet and I have lost 1.6kg.  It is not so much, but it is not too bad because I didn&#8217;t starve myself and I was still eating healthy (maybe even healthier than before). And I think I can do this vegetarian diet 3 &#8211; 4 days a week.  It is good for your health and I will still be having meat in my meal 3 days a week so I won&#8217;t have lack of iron or protein in my body. Although her BMI is within the normal range, she has decided to go on the Master Cleanse Diet to detoxify herself and cleanse her body.  Read her daily Master Cleanse Diet Diary and find out what exactly she went through to lose 7.5 lbs in 10 days. </em></p>
<p><strong>Day 0 &#8211; 4/09/2010  (Saturday)</strong><br />
Day 0 was all about preparing myself with the idea of the liquid diet.  I have never been a healthy eater and I love my carbs so it will be an interesting experience for me.  Today, I read <a href="http://bit.ly/9zqEqS" target="_blank">Master Cleanse Secrets Guide</a> to gain a better understanding of the diet.  The book has information on how to feel energetic and alert during the cleanse, how to avoid common mistakes and most importanly, the specific type of water to use for the lemonade in order for the diet to work.  I went to the supermarket later today to get supplies for my diet; lemons, maple syrup, herbal laxative tea, water and  uniodized sea salt.  Every day for the next 10 days, my diet is going to be pretty much this:<br />
- Quart of lukewarm water with 2 teaspoon of uniodized sea salt<br />
- 6 &#8211; 10 cups of special Lemonade.  I call it special because it is not like the normal lemonade juice.   I put two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoon of Grade B maple syrup, and just a little bit of cayenne pepper (according to <a href="http://bit.ly/9zqEqS" target="_blank">the book</a>, it is 1/10 teaspoon to be exact) with each cup of lemonade.<br />
- 1 cup laxative tea before bed</p>
<p><strong>Day 1 &#8211; 5/09/2010  (Sunday)</strong><br />
Today is my first day of Master Cleanse Diet.  I thought it will be the best decision to start on a weekend than a weekday because I don&#8217;t have to go into work.   In the morning, I woke up really early, around 6:00am.  I normally get up around 9:00am on weekends so I guess I was just anxious to start my diet.  The salt water was really awful but I managed to finish it. And I also understood why it is called the Salt-Water Flush.  After 20 mins of drinking the salt water, I had to rush into the bathroom and I&#8217;ve never felt so empty in my stomach afterwards.   I drank a total of 5 lemonade today.  I was quite surprised that I didn&#8217;t get any symptoms like coated tongue and dry throat.  Maybe too early to say now.  Let&#8217;s wait and see coz I still have 9 days to go.  </p>
<p><strong>Day 2 &#8211; 6/09/2010 (Monday)</strong><br />
I was quite hungry when I woke up at 6.30am this morning.   I felt like a peanut butter toast but I know I couldn&#8217;t have it.  I went straight into the kitchen for salt water.  I still found it pretty awful but I drank it quicker so I didn&#8217;t have to endure the taste for so long.   I also made myself bottles of lemonade to take to work with me.</p>
<p>When I got to work, I felt a bit weak.  I am a heavy coffee drinker on weekdays and I was starting to get headaches around 10:00am because all I had was lemonade.  I had a weekly progress meeting at 10:30am so I popped in panadols to help with my headaches.</p>
<p>I was so happy when the clock striked 5:00pm coz I couldn&#8217;t wait to go home and lie on bed.  I weighed myself when I got home, and I am at 123.5!  Woot!  I was 125 yesterday.  While I know it&#8217;s all water weight, I was quite happy and went to bed feeling pleased with myself.</p>
<p><strong>Day 3 &#8211; 7/09/2010 (Tuesday)</strong><br />
Day 3 was a lot easier than day 2.  The killer headache was gone.  I learnt an important trick; to keep my sugar levels up and stay hydrated by drinking lemonade and water all thorought the day.</p>
<p>I still went to work but I am taking the rest of the week off.  I was constantly feeling cold in the air-conditioned office and feeling very weak so I thought it&#8217;s the best idea to stay home and just concentrate on the diet for the rest of the week.</p>
<p>I also noticed I have a white tongue, which is one of the known side effects of Master Cleanse Diet.  In <a href="http://bit.ly/9zqEqS" target="_blank">this book</a>, the author said when you are ready to come out of the diet and are detoxed well, you will no longer have white substances on your tongue.  Today is the first day I got a white tongue so I guess it will be a few days before it disappears.</p>
<p><strong>Day 4 &#8211; 8/09/2010 (Wednesday)</strong><br />
Today is my first day off work so I pretty much slept the whole day.  I was hungry, tired and felt like I was going to faint any time.  Not a good feeling.  A bunch of friends rang me to have Wednesday movies night out but I polietly said no.   I wasn&#8217;t feeling so well and I didn&#8217;t think they&#8217;d enjoy my company.  I’ve had 3 bowel movements today and I was pretty amazed because I haven&#8217;t been eating anything for 4 days. Well I guess all that is from 28 years of eating junks and carbs.</p>
<p>It was a bit hard for me to fall asleep at night because I was so hungry.  So I just lied in bed and counted sheeps til I felt asleep.</p>
<p><strong>Day 5 &#8211; 9/09/2010 (Thursday)</strong><br />
So today is day 5 and like yesterday, I had no engery, feeling weak and dizzy at the same time.  I weighed myself this morning and I have lost 5 lbs already.  I was having mid-day naps because I was too weak to do anything.  I still have a very coated tongue and it has been sore for the past 2 days.  I kept waking up during my nap to go to the toilet.  I really can&#8217;t wait for this to end.  5 more days is what I kept saying to myself.</p>
<p><strong>Day 6 &#8211; 10/09/2010 (Friday)</strong><br />
After a bad day 5, my day 6 was better.  I woke up and was determined to stay positive.  I went for a walk just around the neighbourhood after my morning lemonade.  It felt really good because I haven&#8217;t been out much.  The sunshine and the fresh air were exactly what I needed to lift up my mood.</p>
<p>When I got home, I got on the computer and read other people&#8217;s success stories with the Master Cleanse Diet.  It made me feel hopeful.  I am glad that I am doing for my body and mind.  The past 3 days were tough but I think I am slowly getting better.  I also read the <a href="http://bit.ly/9zqEqS" target="_blank">Master Cleanse Secrets</a> book again to refresh my memory and to ensure myself that I was doing the diet the right way.</p>
<p>When I went to shower in the evening, I noticed that my waistline has gotten smaller.  It made me quite happy.  I think I will do another weigh-in tomorrow morning.</p>
<p><strong>Day 7 &#8211; 11/09/2010 (Saturday)</strong><br />
I am feeling much much better today.  Like I said yesterday, I did a weigh-in and I am now 119 lbs.  That&#8217;s 6 pounds lost since I started my diet.  My mum was coming over today so I cleaned the apartment, went to the grocery store to get some snacks (not for me, but for my mum) and rented some DVDs to watch.  I was feeling quite energetic today, so I did quite a bit of household chores.</p>
<p>My mum came over in the afternoon and she commented on how good I looked.  &#8220;You looked healthy and slim&#8221; were her exact words.  We chatted, watched DVD and just relaxed on the couch.  While mum was having chips, I drank water and lemonade.  I wanted some chips too but I managed not to cheat.  It helped that I no longer felt hungry.</p>
<p>I went to bed around 8:30pm soon after mum left.  I felt asleep as soon as I hit my head on the pillow.  It was a tiring but good day.</p>
<p><strong>Day 8 &#8211; 12/09/2010 (Sunday)</strong><br />
Today, I felt pretty good.   I also noticed that my tongue was back to its original color; Pink.  No more ghosty white tongue.  I am also rather enjoying the lemonade drink.  The peperry taste no longer bothered me.  I still felt tired and weak during the day but it is not as bad now.  I have also been going to bed early.  Tomorrow, I will be going back to work but I am positive about that.  After all, it&#8217;s only 2 more days.</p>
<p><strong>Day 9 &#8211; 13/09/2010 (Monday)</strong><br />
First day back at work.  I was feeling good today and was no longer craving for food.  In fact, food was the last thing on my mind.  My day at work passed by quite quickly as I was busy catching up with lots of work from when I was away last week.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t have anything to report today except from the fact is tomorrow is my last day of my Master Cleanse Diet and I am already feeling pretty amazing.  Today went quite well at work and I was surprised that I was no longer feeling hungry all the time.  I went to bed around 9:30pm after drinking a cup of laxative tea, ready for my last day of the Master Cleanse Diet.</p>
<p><strong>Day 10 &#8211; 14/09/2010 (Tuesday)</strong><br />
Wow!  Last day of the diet!  I can&#8217;t believe 10 days have come and gone.  If you asked me on my Day 3, I would have said the 10th Day wouldn&#8217;t come soon enough.  But look at me now.  Slimmer, feeling better and my skin is glowing!</p>
<p>I was so proud of myself.  I was smiling the whole day at the office and my colleagues commented on how happy and healthy I look.  I didn&#8217;t even feel hungry the whole day.  I did some shopping after work for vegetables.  I am planning to have just vege soups for the next 2 days because I don&#8217;t think I can stomach meat and heavy food immediately after this diet.  I am also looking forwards to being socialable again and meeting up with friends for lunch.</p>
